Thanks again for the great fishing experience. Emory and I love being out with you and I appreciate your approach and thoughtfulness in teaching a 12 year old to fish. Your knowledge and instruction are impressive. We fried the trout and whitefish later that night and they were superb!
I can’t wait til the next trip! Hope the doctor visit went well.
Thank you so much for the great red fishing trip today. Me and my boys had a fantastic day. I truly appreciate the time and attention you gave my boys (Grayson 13 and Carson 10) while fishing today. You are an excellent captain and good teacher which is a rare combo.
As you could probably tell today, fishing is a very important part of my family and we could not have asked for a better day fishing or a better guide to show us the finer points of fishing the low country. The boys are already talking about "the May Multi-species Wreck trip". We will start saving now. Had a blast! Attached are some good pics, use what you like. Please stay in touch.
All My Best,
Garth D. Spendiff M.S., CSCS
P.S. the count was: Dad = 3, Grayson = 11, Carson = 5, Team Spendiff = 19
Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip on Monday. The weather made it tough, but if it's easy it ain't fishing. Eighteen fish in the boat was quite an accomplishment!
As you suggested, we grilled the redfish we caught on "half shell" with BBQ sauce on some and a lemon/butter/wine sauce on others. I'll never grill fresh fish any other way, they were great. We also steamed the trout with sesame oil, green onions, salt and pepper - also fantastic.
Our wives forgave us for leaving them behind with such a fabulous meal. We'll definitely book with you next time we're back in the area.

I just wanted to say thank you for another enjoyable day on the water. "Sarah the Slayer" and I had a great time as usual! And how could we not when you were catching fish like that. Truly catching not fishing. Sarah is ready to head back to Beaufort for another day already. It was so enjoyable to hear my wife (who typically doesn't fish) laughing every time she hooked another fish. WHAT A DAY!!! To top it off, we even made it back to the ramp without getting soaked in a rainstorm!
We look forward to our next trip back to the low country and spending another day with you on the water. Take care of yourself and if you get over our way give me a call. We can probably find a fish or two in Texas to go after!
Just wanted to say thank you for a great day on Sunday. The Laws and Perrows' are now saltwater fishermen thanks to you. I knew you were good but WOW. It was really great to see you again and I have told everyone what a great time we had. Everyone around asked how you were doing. I told them to go fish with you and see for yourself.
See ya soon,
Rick, we had a great time. Everyone said they enjoyed the day and would definitely use you again when in the area. I will pass your name on to some more folks that come down to Beaufort and I will call for another outing when I get back. Thanks for a good time!
Thanks for a great trip. You made one young boy very happy, a daddy very proud, and an uncle all of the above and more.
Just got back home from our trip and wanted to again say thank you for a wonderful day on the water. "Sarah the Slayer" and I had a terrific time. We enjoyed not only the fishing but also the laughing, teasing and learning from you. THANK YOU! If you ever get out to the SF Bay Area please let us know we'd love to see you. You have a place to stay right here with us.
My brother and I are already looking at a trip over next November before the holidays so we will be back! Thanks again for everything!
By the way, thanks for recommending the Dockside restaurant. Ate there our last night in SC and what a great place. Also walked around Beaufort, what a terrific town!
My son ssgt Michael R. DaGrosa and I had a great time. This trip was very meaningful since my son will be leaving for Kuwait in two weeks. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you for your service to you country also.

Wanted to say thanks for a great trip on Friday. Will was thrilled with the sharks but also discovered why Redfish are near the top of the wish list. That first big Red I caught just about took the rod out of my hand. What a great fish! A 27" Redfish may be the best medicine I could have received.
It meant a lot to me to have Dad, Will, and Melissa on this trip. We could not have had a better time. This trip may have to last me for a while, so many thanks for your hardwork and kindness towards my family.
I trust that the trout will be kind to you on your trip. Look forward to another trip very soon.
We want to thank you for providing us with a memorably great fishing experience. You did way more than we could reasonably expect and thoroughly enjoyed our time with you.
The Cobia tasted great. Haven't tried the Redfish yet but it wont be long.
Here are the pics that we promised.
Once again our thanks,
Loraye & Jim Osborne
I just wanted to drop you this email and thank you so very much for the enjoyable fishing trip that we took with you. You made everything so easy from the beginning when we first booked the trip to the very end when we were unloading our cooler full of fish. The toughest part of the trip was throwing those big redfish back and keeping the smaller ones. You were right when you told us that catching the trout would be fun but catching the redfish would be a totally different experience. We are already planning our trip for next fall - I can’t wait. Thanks again for a trip that will never be forgotten.
I would recommend Reel Chance Fishing Charters to anyone of any experience or age group. Every year, I come to town, and I always use Rick and his boat. Whether it's just the guys, or the whole family, Rick always accommodates the group and exceeds expectations. We will be using Reel Chance for many years to come! Thanks Rick!
I fished with you for the first time about 10 years ago, and it helped fill a void that had been there for a long time for me: namely how to successfully fish for saltwater species in South Carolina. Being a fairly good freshwater fisherman, I was constantly frustrated when it came to saltwater and wanted to somehow bridge the gap to this desire to catch all of the wonderful inshore species of fish. You took us out in your boat that first time and with a lot of patience and skill you proceeded to take us to parts of Beaufort Bay where there were lots of spot tails, flounder, spanish mackerel and speckled sea trout. It was truly amazing how many fish we have caught with you over the past 10 years, and we’ve done it every time we’ve gone out with you! One thing that I really appreciate is your desire to "teach" anyone who really has the desire to "learn.” I really craved the knowledge that is required to fish saltwater where tide charts, bait, and correct presentation all come together at those seemingly perfect moments where fish are vulnerable to being caught in large numbers. You’ve been more than willing to teach us while we were fully enjoying ourselves. My 2 sons grew up fishing with you and are now grown men who dearly love to saltwater fish and do it quite well. My 2 sons-in-law also accompany us on these family trips and have fully enjoyed catching spot tails on top water for the first time or using popping corks for trout and other fish species. We plan to fish with you many more years to come as your knowledge and willingness to share on the water are what keeps us coming back for more. Thanks to a great guy and an even greater fisherman, teacher, and guide.
If you want to catch reds and cobia in the low country of South Carolina, Rick is the guy to put you on them. I can't guess how many times I've fished with Rick and no matter what kind of weather, or what time of year, we catch fish. We've fished both bait and flies, and have been successful with each. I've referred twelve people to Rick and to a person they've totally enjoyed their experience. He's a very capable and professional guide and a delightful guy with whom to spend a day on the water.
Going out fishing with Rick is always enjoyable. He is a nice guy, has good equipment, knows what he is doing and finds the fish. I have had several outstanding redfish days with Rick both using bait and using topwater artificials. One day we also caught a 28lb. cobia as a bonus. Rick is first rate.
I began fishing with Captain Rick as a guest of a business associate in 1990. I have since fished with Captain Rick multiple times a year. My favorite species are trout and red fish and will all ways take a flounder thrown in. His boat and equipment have always been "top notch", his personality is very professional but friendly. most important to me when the fishing gets tough he will work his butt off for you. Just finished a trip with approximately sixty trout caught and released.
