Finally back on the water
Report Date: April 17, 2020
Couldn't stand the withdrawal pains anymore, so hit the water today with my buddy Jim Goller. Jim brought live shrimp, and we started uptown about 2 hours past high tide. Got on some fish right off both trout and redfish. Hit a deep drop with no takers, then got on some nice quality trout, a couple around 18 inches. Hit another deep drop with only one trout and several whiting, then got on another trout bite on the first incoming. I was throwing a Vudu shrimp under the cork, a new color called Green Hornet. The fish seemed to hit as well as the live shrimp Jim was throwing. Ended up with 14 trout, 2 redfish, one blue, and several whiting. It was really nice to get back on the water. May start doing my trips again next week. Also I heard there were 4 Cobia caught in the river yesterday. The trout we had were fat with roe. Also saw a school of smaller menhaden, so everything is changing. Fun times ahead!
