Walker's First Fish (and 20 more)

Report Date: August 8, 2019

Got the privilege of taking 8 year old Walker Long on his first fishing trip today. His grandparents, David and Paula Shuler, brought him. Started on a falling tide near the bottom, and hit our first drop with live shrimp under the popping cork. Made 6 or 7 drifts on the drop with no takers, and was ready to leave. Decided to move down 20 feet, and make one more drift. We finally left, 27 fish later. His first fish was a very pretty 16 inch trout. And the next a 23 and an eighth inch Redfish, which was barely over the top slot. And it was on from there. The next two drops were also hot. Walker ended up catching 21 trout and reds, grandmother 19, including one big Bonnethead shark. Granddad filled us in with several more, and we ended with about 45 trout and redfish and the one shark.I think he's hooked!
