Topwater blasts

Report Date: July 7, 2019

Had the day off so decided to check out one drop I have been catching some big trout on and fish it through the tide to see when they are showing. Of course, today they didn't. Asked my neighbor Jeff Miller to go if he wanted and he did. Tried to catch bait, but only a few shrimp and finger mullet. Went to the drop and fished around until the water finally covered the grass. Jeff was throwing a topwater Spook, and had 5 really great bites. All were Redfish. He landed the first one, which I guessed around 10 lbs. The second one was bigger, and he couldn't move it out of the grass and it pulled the hooks. The third one came in the boat, a 25 inch Redfish weighing 6 lb or better. He had two more monster bites they missed the hooks. I piddled around and caught a pretty nice Sandbar shark, 2 ladyfish, a jack and we each had a small trout to add to the bag. I did learn something with the Redfish. Don't know where my good trout were today. Thats fishing.
